Some history ...
This charming 17th century
chateau, its' pale limestone walls touched by the years, and bathed by
the soft Angevine climate, is situated in the very heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation.
Exceptional and unique in this
region, the clos encompasses within its' walls 50 acres of vineyards.
Sitting in the middle of these
vineyards, protected by 400 year old stone walls, the chateau has
continuously produced wine since the Oratorien Brotherhood planted the clos in the 17th century, and from whom the 'Clos des Oratoriens' took
its name.
Since 1938 the Tigny family have
perpetuated the tradition by harvesting the whole crop by hand, producing
various appellations of pleasant and refined wines. |
